I was do disappointed when these flats arrived. I was expecting 3D figures like I had received in some of the other sets. It would be fun to hav those old figures now, though. There is a lot of waste (so to speak) in these sets--WAY too many Indians and Light Dragoons, and those useless fifers....! My initial impulse was to use officers as flag bearers, but I will need them for other things, and thus will probably use odds and ends (such as excess Minutemen) instead. Ah well, all part of the excitement, right? If you find you need a couple of something to complete a unit, let me know! [bumbydadATgmailDOTcom]

BTW, the hundreds of rounds I had wound up in Wally Simon's hands. After his death they made their way to the HAWKS, who gave them away as part of their first "Armies for Kids" project! Small world (in our hobby especially.)

Best regards,

ChrisChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05091296131481416326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2858285911002481352.post-60800088233612044092017-03-03T12:11:46.202-03:002017-03-03T12:11:46.202-03:00Hey Chris!

I converted some of the extra First Nations figures into American riflemen with extra tricorne heads, and used paper 'fronts' to make some of the native heads into light infantry helmets.Howard Whitehousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02302365981307587479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2858285911002481352.post-16121791050896810762017-03-03T10:06:59.020-03:002017-03-03T10:06:59.020-03:00Thanks. We played again last night an AAR will folllow in a few days.

I hope you don't mind but i took the liberty of forwarding your comments to Howard.

I would enjoy seeing photos of your figures.Dan Foleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08162537595366441464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2858285911002481352.post-55861294818874577552017-03-02T19:53:00.587-03:002017-03-02T19:53:00.587-03:00I used to have hundreds of the rounds--really, the...I used to have hundreds of the rounds--really, they were terrible. For example, the tricorns are solid triangles, not unlike the "cheese hats" worn by Green Bay Packer fans. The plastic is very, very soft, which undermined the clarity of the sculpting (such as it was).

I got a set of the flats and loved them; unfortunately, my parents did not, and would not let me order more. I've bought a few sets (or parts of sets) the past few years on eBay, and now have enough to do the sort of game pictured here. I may go for the 7 Years War, though, as I already have AWI figures in other scales. The cavalry are all light dragoons, of course, but switching heads with the fairly useless fifers will enable me to field heavy dragoons and cuirassiers.

The Indians will be unusable, and even after conversions I will have way too much cavalry, but I'm sure they will sell on eBay!

Your troops are great!

Best regards,

Chris JohnsonChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05091296131481416326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2858285911002481352.post-12677282343732949302017-02-01T22:45:51.579-03:002017-02-01T22:45:51.579-03:00My brother had the round one's.
