Finally a Game.

After a long break from gaming we finally got one in. The Mark's Little Soldiers were brought out and we used the work in progress Twilight of a Gentleman's War.

The scenario required each for to break out from their trenches and occupy several buildings. I decided to hold my left flank and concentrate on the right. The cards favored the blue force to begin with but a surge in the middle gave me a chance but in the end my army was forced out on the left and decimated on the right.

Green reconnoiter the line of attack

Army Green's troops move to the first building.

Army Blue take control of a building.

Action puts most of the Green troops out of action and the Building catches fire.

Last ditch effort offers a glimmer of hope but it was not enough.

AGW with Mark's Little Soldiers

Matt suggested playing a game with Mark's Little Soldiers this week using the Twilight of A Gentleman's War rules. Always happy to get these figures on the table I said "Absolutely".

My Berganlander's got a lot of cards in the beginning allowing me to bring on troops but very few targets to fire at were available. Matt's Slobodians moved on to a target rich environment. I became concerned as I lost a cavalry unit and the main gun on a tank. Soon however things changed and the Slobodians started taking heavy casualties. They withdrew his forces to save them for another day.

Berganlander troops deployed.

An obstinate local denies entry into a potential strongpoint.

The shooting gets heavy.

The Slobodians control the hedge line.

Slobodian Royal Guard troops defending.

A flanking attack by the Slobodians

A lone anti tank rifle takes aim.

No more Slobodians on this hedge line.

The result of the Royal Guards close assault.

A fun game. Although it had been awhile since we played last the rules game back quickly.

Take the road, hold the hill.

A Game with Mark's Little Soldiers from a few weeks ago. Some lucky card draws put the the Panovians in a good position to win a draw.
Another game this time Beef and Beer refight of Killikranke. The Highlanders disrupted the Crowns line but became quite disorganized in the process.

Air support and flames.

We continued the game from last week. My troops managed to regroup and threaten Howard's force but in the end I had lost more than half my units and was about to be out flanked.

Berglander Flame thrower sets the house on fire.

Slobainian Guards advance around the burning building.

The HMG lays down covering fire.

The Guards move past the burning armored car setting up a position on the Slobainian flank.

Air support arrives but inflicts more damage on it's own side than the enemies.

Another fun game. The plane is a wooden kit from Michael's, simple to build and fits well with the miniatures. I'll need to get some closer pictures of the plane with miniatures meanwhile here another pov of it.

She may be cute but she's not helping us win the battle.

We played a game last night using a modified AGW using Mark's Little Soldiers. Here's a few photos. We'll finish up next week but things aren't going well for the Berglanders. The General has a mistress which allows the other side to cancel a number card every cycle.

Mark's Little Soldiers, first battle.

The Mark's Little Soldiers made it to the table last night. Matt is working on a set of simple rules for these. I think the original rules were for a smaller amount of figures but once we pulled all the figures out Matt tweaked the rules to accommodate larger units. The game moved along well and was fun. No figure removal needed we just laid the casualties on their sides.

Recruiting continues.

A second group of Mark's Little Soldiers arrived a few weeks back. I took advantage of the deal and got the President figure.

For this group I chose to use the Army Painter spray primers. Wolf Grey and Goblin Green. This helped the painting speed although care needs to be taken with flesh as the base color shows through but this is easily fixed. The colored primer does help save time. I gave the figures two coats but need to touch up a few of the folds. They pretty much eliminated the time spent on two coats, which I found never really covered well, touch ups are still need but are part of the regular process anyway. I still have a bit of a problem with the varnish pooling and remaining whiteish but should be able to overcome that with a little practice.

Berglander Squad

More troops on the workbench.

Wave three is available to order but I hope to get a few more figures done before I order.

Generals and Officer.

Mark's Little Soldiers or...

number six of "no new projects" .

I had heard rumors of this several years ago but nothing was done and then the flood gates opened.

Little Soldiers

As usual the temptation to jump in was tempered by the desire to reduce the lead pile. After several visit to Mark's Instagram page resistance was futile. I ordered a few packs, not the full first wave so missed out on the "Boy Detective" figure but enough to get a feel for the figures and see if it was something I was willing to commit to. It was. I painted up a few figures and am happy with the result. The casting clean with enough detail to look like historical figures but not so much to limit what they are or keep them from being used for imagination projects. All the goals Mr. Copplestone stated he wanted were achieved.

The 1st group, Panovians.

These figures I had primed white and then painted for the next group I will spray the main uniform color and go from there. It took 2-3 coats to get good coverage.

Now I'm all in on this project and hope to get a game in by the end of the year.
